About the Role:
We are seeking a talented and energetic individual to join our Linux Platform Support team. The team's mission is to build, operate, and maintain high-performance Linux environments. The primary role involves UNIX system administration and the integration of both bare-metal and virtualized infrastructure.
The ideal candidate should exhibit strong communication skills, practical decision-making abilities, and a focus on agile goal delivery. The position demands multi-tasking, problem-solving, and the ability to schedule and prioritize R&D-related activities while effectively communicating actions and results.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, automate, and support Linux systems and services in a 24/7 production environment.
- Independently and collaboratively manage tasks, including rotational 24/7 shifts.
- Evaluate, recommend, and implement technical solutions to meet business needs.
- Collaborate with other technical teams to troubleshoot and continually improve technologies.
- Prepare and maintain documentation for systems, standards, configurations, and procedures.
Required Skills & Knowledge:
- In-depth understanding of Linux operating systems, including kernel, memory, processes, threads, and cgroups.
- Experience in managing and deploying various Linux-based operating systems.
- Expertise in automation and configuration management tools like Ansible.
- Experience with hypervisors such as VMware, oVirt, KVM, or OpenStack for provisioning and management.
- Proficiency in scripting using shell, Perl, or Python.
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Nagios and the ELK stack.
- Advanced knowledge of Linux operating systems and the ability to perform advanced automation tasks using bash or Python.
- Hands-on experience with system administration in Linux, including configuring and managing hypervisors (e.g., KVM, Xen, ESX).
- Knowledge of networking for virtual machines, focusing on security and performance.
- Familiarity with remote desktop software solutions like VNC, Citrix Xen Server, or VDI.
Position Requirements:
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience in UNIX/Linux system administration or a related field.
- Proven ability to independently resolve a wide range of issues with creative solutions.
- Strong decision-making capabilities and judgment in selecting methods and techniques for problem-solving.
- Ability to adapt to dynamic requirements and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
