Job Summary:

As a Linux Engineer at NETConnect Global (NCG), you will be part of a dedicated team responsible for providing advanced technical support for Linux products and technologies. Your expertise will be critical in resolving high-risk issues, ensuring system performance, and delivering superior solutions to our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Resolve customer issues via telephone, email, or remote sessions.
  • Reproduce and troubleshoot issues in-house, providing timely responses.
  • Conduct regular follow-ups with customers, offering recommendations, updates, and action plans.
  • Identify and escalate issues to vendors following Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Utilize internal resources, including knowledge bases and forums, to provide effective solutions.
  • Collaborate with other Centers of Excellence (CoE) and hardware teams to diagnose and isolate complex issues.
  • Maintain high-quality documentation, adhering to SLA timeframes and operational metrics.
  • Manage incident resolution, including leading team members on complex cases.
  • Oversee escalation management and participate in formal escalations during crises.
  • Perform proactive and reactive problem management, including trend and root cause analysis.
  • Independently prepare and review change records, conducting risk and impact analyses.
  • Apply patch and security updates as per policy, monitoring for compliance.
  • Ensure accurate entries in the Configuration Management Database (CMDB).
  • Design solutions to meet complex customer infrastructure needs.
  • Participate in and lead internal and customer projects, including knowledge transfer.
  • Build strong customer relationships, becoming a trusted advisor.
  • Collaborate effectively as part of a team, leading operational processes and policies.

Mandatory Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and administering all flavors of Linux.
  • Experience in Linux vulnerability assessment and mitigation.
  • Knowledge of patch deployment solutions like Redhat Satellite and Oracle Linux Ksplice.
  • Working knowledge of Redhat and Oracle Enterprise Linux.
  • Troubleshooting networking issues effectively.
  • Strong understanding of cluster services, including Oracle RAC clusters.
  • Familiarity with SAN technologies and converged solutions.
  • Knowledge of HP Servers (Blade, Rackmount) and Virtual Connect OS management.
  • Experience in disaster recovery planning and conducting DR tests.
  • Capability to prepare service delivery reports and participate in customer meetings.

Eligibility & Qualification:

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in an enterprise technical support environment.
  • Relevant certifications such as RHCE, Oracle Enterprise Linux, or ITIL will be advantageous.
  • Flexibility to work in a 24/7 support environment.
