We are seeking a skilled and experienced Solr Developer to join our dynamic team. As a Solr Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining search applications using Apache Solr. You will work closely with our cross-functional teams to understand requirements, implement search solutions, and optimize performance. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in search technologies, data indexing, and a passion for delivering high-quality search experiences. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Design, develop, and maintain search applications using Apache Solr to deliver high-performance search functionality. 
  • Collaborate with product managers, software engineers, and UI/UX designers to gather requirements and implement search features that align with business goals. 
  • Develop custom search components, query parsers, and filters to enhance search capabilities. 
  • Implement data indexing strategies to ensure efficient and accurate search results. 
  • Optimize search performance by tuning Solr configurations, relevancy settings, and query performance. 
  • Monitor and troubleshoot Solr instances to identify and resolve issues related to indexing, searching, and overall system health. 
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in search technologies and recommend improvements or new features to enhance the search experience. 
  • Work on integrating Solr with various data sources, databases, and third-party APIs. 
  • Write and maintain technical documentation related to Solr configurations, best practices, and troubleshooting guides. 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience). 
  • Proven experience as a Solr Developer or in a similar role, with a strong portfolio of search applications developed using Apache Solr. 
  • In-depth understanding of search concepts, information retrieval, and relevance ranking. 
  • Proficiency in Java programming and experience with Solr’s Java APIs. 
  • Solid knowledge of Apache Lucene and its integration with Solr. 
  • Experience with data indexing, schema design, and performance tuning in Solr. 
  • Familiarity with search analytics and monitoring tools for tracking search usage and performance metrics. 
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues in a timely manner. 
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment. 
  • Experience with other search technologies, such as Elasticsearch, would be a plus. 
  • Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) would be advantageous.
